Text to SVG, as real outlines
Type your words, choose a font and download an SVG made of shapes. No font needed to open it, ready to cut on a Cricut or Silhouette.
How to turn text into an SVG
- Type your text. Press Enter for more lines.
- Pick a font: script, handwriting, serif, sans, display or stencil.
- Set the size and spacing and watch the preview change as you go.
- Tick Connect letters for script fonts, so the word cuts in one piece.
- Download the SVG and upload it to your cutting software.
SVG text for Cricut and Silhouette
When you type in a script font in design software, the letters often sit on top of each other. The machine then cuts every overlap, and the word falls apart. Welding fixes that by joining the letters into a single outline. This font to SVG tool does the weld for you, so the file arrives ready to cut.
Because the text is saved as shapes, there is no font file to install or to lose. The SVG opens the same way in Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, Inkscape, Illustrator and Canva. Need to adjust the shapes? Add an offset for a layered look or a sticker border, or tidy the file with other free SVG tools.
What people make with it
Names and vinyl decals
Water bottles, mugs, car windows and name signs. A welded script name weeds as one clean piece.
T-shirts and iron-on
Set your phrase in lines, download it, and mirror it in your cutting software before you cut.
Stencils and signs
Stardos Stencil has built-in bridges, so the centres of letters such as O and A stay attached.
Laser and CNC
Outlines are what these machines need. Use the file in LightBurn or your CAM software with no font worries.
Got a picture rather than text?
If your lettering is an image, such as a hand-drawn quote or a logo, Vectacle turns it into a clean SVG as well.

Questions
How do I turn text into an SVG?
Type your words in the box, pick a font, and set the size, spacing and alignment. The preview updates as you type. Click Download SVG and you have a file made of shapes.
Do I need the font installed to open the SVG?
No. Every letter is saved as an outline (a vector shape), not as text, so the file looks the same on any computer and in any app.
How do I keep script letters connected for Cricut?
Tick Connect letters. Letters that overlap are welded into one shape, so the machine cuts the word in one piece instead of slicing through each join. If a gap remains, lower the letter spacing until the letters touch.
Can I still move single letters?
Yes, if you untick Connect letters. Each letter is then its own shape, grouped by line, so you can ungroup and arrange them in Design Space or Silhouette Studio.
Can I use these fonts on things I sell?
All the fonts here are under the SIL Open Font License, which allows commercial use. You may use the shapes you make on products you sell. The licence for each font is listed on our credits page.
Can I add several lines?
Yes. Press Enter for a new line, then use line height and alignment to set them out. Each line becomes its own shape, so a welded line stays separate from the next.
Why is a character missing?
Each font here covers the usual Western European letters. If a character is not in the font, Vectacle tells you which one and leaves it out. Try another font, or turn your own lettering into an SVG with the image converter.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The outlines are made in your browser, and your text stays on your device.
