Good to know: this makes a traced SVG from a picture of the page. If your PDF already holds vectors, you get a redrawn copy, not the original shapes.

How to convert a PDF to SVG

  1. Drop your PDF into the box.
  2. Click the page you want in the thumbnails.
  3. Pick the detail: High suits most pages. Very high helps with fine lines.
  4. Click Convert to SVG. The page opens in the Vectacle converter, ready to trace and download.

An honest word about PDF to SVG

A PDF can hold two kinds of content: pictures (such as scans) and vectors (shapes and text). This tool draws the page as a sharp picture and traces it. For scans that’s exactly what you need. For a PDF that’s already vector, tracing gives a redrawn copy, so if you need the original shapes untouched, open the PDF in Illustrator, Affinity or Inkscape instead. After choosing a page, the tool tells you which kind it found. Need to go the other way? Use SVG to PDF.

Questions

How do I convert a PDF to SVG?

Drop the PDF into the box above, click the page you want, then click Convert to SVG. The page opens in the Vectacle converter, which traces it into an SVG you can download.

Is the SVG an exact copy of my PDF?

No, and it’s worth being clear about this. The page is drawn as a high-resolution picture, then traced, so you get a redrawn copy. If your PDF already holds vector shapes, the original shapes aren’t reused, and small details can differ.

My PDF is already vector. What should I do?

If you have Illustrator, Affinity or Inkscape, opening the PDF there keeps the original shapes exactly. Use this tool when you don’t have those apps, when you want a simple cut file, or when the PDF is a scan.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes, and this is where tracing is the right choice, because a scan is only a picture inside a PDF. Clean, high-contrast scans give the best results.

Will text stay editable?

No. Text becomes shapes when the page is traced, so it keeps its look but can’t be retyped. That’s often what you want for cutting and printing.

Can I convert a whole multi-page PDF?

One page at a time. Pick a page, convert it, then come back for the next. Tracing works best when it can focus on one page.

Are my files uploaded?

This page reads your PDF in your own browser, and the PDF itself isn’t sent anywhere. Only the page you choose goes on to the converter, as a picture. If you use the Vectacle converter’s server help, that picture is processed there but not stored.

Which detail setting should I choose?

High suits most pages. Choose Very high for fine lines or small text, and Standard for simple logos or on an older phone.
