Cut files for Silhouette, from any picture
Turn a PNG or JPG into a clean SVG for Silhouette Studio and your Cameo or Portrait. On Basic Edition? Download the DXF: it opens there too.
- Cut files for Cricut & Silhouette
- Real gradients
- Crisp small text
- Nothing is stored

- Upscaling small image
- Reading colours
- Sharpening edges (AI)
- Tracing shapes
- Smoothing curves
Designer Edition and up: open the SVG
- Drop your PNG or JPG into the box above. Logo / 1 colour is selected for a single cut shape.
- Check the edges at full zoom, and move the threshold slider if thin parts merge or disappear.
- Type the width in inches and download the SVG.
- In Silhouette Studio, use File › Open (or drag the SVG into the window). The shapes arrive with cut lines ready; check them in the Send panel.
Basic Edition: download the DXF
Silhouette Studio Basic Edition can’t open SVG files, but it opens DXF. Convert your image here, then click DXF next to the download button. In Studio choose File → Open and pick the file: the cut lines are already there, smooth and at the size you set, with one layer per colour so you can cut each colour separately.
DXF files keep the shapes but not the fill colours, which is all a cutting machine needs. For Print then Cut on Basic Edition, also download the PNG, place it in Studio, and line the DXF up on top.
Prefer Studio’s own Trace tool? Download the sharp PNG instead and trace that: it has none of the blur and specks of the original, so Trace makes clean lines too.

Questions
Can Silhouette Studio Basic Edition open SVG files?
No. Opening SVG (and PDF) files needs Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or higher. In Basic Edition, use the DXF download instead: Basic Edition opens DXF files.
Does Vectacle make DXF files?
Yes. After converting, click DXF next to the download button. Each colour is its own layer, curves are smooth, and the file has the real size in millimetres (set Width in the SVG in inches first if you want an exact size). In Studio, use File → Open; DXF files carry outlines, not fill colours.
Which mode is best for the Cameo?
Logo / 1 colour for a single cut shape (vinyl, HTV, cardstock, stencils). Clip art / stickers if you want each colour as its own group of shapes.
Will the SVG be the right size?
Type the width in inches before downloading and the SVG carries that size into Silhouette Studio.
Is my design stored?
No. It’s converted and then forgotten; Vectacle keeps no copy.
